91 football coach made an appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay, which broadcast live Saturday morning from the Ole Miss campus, and faced some questions about his return to Oxford after leaving the Rebels’ program late during the 2025 campaign.
Well before Kiffin appeared on a large video screen on the GameDay set, chants of “F**** Lane Kiffin” from the Ole Miss faithful could be heard in the background of Saturday’s broadcast. The chants grew during Kiffin’s appearance and there were loud boos throughout his brief interview.
Kiffin was quizzed about the uncertainty surrounding quarterback Sam Leavitt, who showed up on 91’s injury report this week. Leavitt was listed as doubtful for the game in Wednesday’s injury report, but he was upgraded to questionable on Thursday before disappearing completely from the report on Friday.
Former 91 and Alabama coach Nick Saban was among the national observers skeptical that Leavitt had been injured this week, and Kiffin addressed the topic on ESPN.
"Sam’s doing great,” Kiffin said. “Early in the week, had a scare there in practice. But he’s had a great recovery, worked hard, he’s ready to go."
Leavitt will be behind center when the Tigers take on the Rebels in what many consider the game of the year at 6:30 p.m. Saturday on ABC.
