A soldier stationed at Fort Polk has pleaded guilty to a federal charge that stemmed from his threats on a social networking platform earlier this year to bring an assault rifle into a synagogue “to kill every single Jew I know.”
Jakob Joshua Marcoulier, a 22-year-old from Massachusetts, made the threats on Feb. 10 on the social networking platform Discord, court documents say. An Oct. 15 plea agreement says he was connected to the internet at the Fort Polk Army Base in Vernon Parish when he spoke the threats aloud to other users playing video games on the site.
That led to an FBI tip from someone who believed the threat “sounded planned and thought out.”
Marcoulier, who used the username el.bostino, believed no others would know his identity, according to the recent court filings.
“After this deployment if the Jews still have reign over our government, I am going to walk into a synagogue with my AK (assault rifle)” and extra magazines of ammunition, Marcoulier said through Discord, court records show. “And I am going to kill every single Jew I know. Inside of that synagogue.
“And that’s my goal in life, is to make sure the Jews never withstand the proper approval of Christ,” Marcoulier added.
He taunted the other Discord users, saying others wouldn’t act on those types of threats.
“But I will,” Marcoulier said, court records show. “I just have to finish this, I have to go back overseas and do what I have to do. And then you’ll see me in the news. I promise you.”
He described himself as being “in the federal government.” He said he wanted to kill Jewish people “in order to make sure the white youth is f***ing secured.”
Marcoulier was arrested April 23 and charged with one count of transmitting threats through interstate commerce. He pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Thomas LeBlanc as part of an Oct. 15 plea agreement. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 21, 2027, by U.S. District Judge James Cain Jr.
Katryna Lyn Spearman, his defense attorney, said Marcoulier will remain jailed until sentencing.
“He pled to the charges in the indictment,” Spearman said. “We didn’t negotiate. He accepted responsibility.”
Marcoulier faces up to five years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.
“Antisemitic hate has no place in Louisiana or anywhere else, and our Office is committed to working with our federal partners to investigate threats that arise from that hate,” said U.S. Attorney Zachary Keller of Louisiana’s Western District, in a Thursday email. “This case, which arose from statements Mr. Marcoulier made on Discord, shows the importance of citizens reporting threats they encounter and that our law enforcement partners are taking those reports and tracking down those who terrorize others.”
Christopher Surridge, an Army spokesperson, was not able to provide Marcoulier’s military status before deadline.
