The Alliance to Fight Human Trafficking in SWLA will be hosting its 3rd annual Cheers for Change fundraiser on May 5.

A southwest Louisiana organization will be hosting its annual adults-only event in May to raise money to continue efforts to combat human trafficking in the region.

From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on May 5, the Alliance to Fight Human Trafficking in SWLA is set to hold its third annual Cheers for Change fundraiser poolside at L ‘Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles, according to a news release from the organization.

“The fundraiser will take place poolside at L ‘Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., offering attendees a festive Cinco de Mayo-themed evening while supporting efforts to combat human trafficking in southwest Louisiana,” the release states.

The Alliance to Fight Human Trafficking in SWLA is an organization that works toward putting an end to human trafficking with education, advocacy and action, its mission statement reads. The group partners with law enforcement, service providers and other community groups to raise awareness, identify victims and provide critical resource

This year, the event is will include Cinco de Mayo-inspired hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, tequila tastings from multiple vendors, live music, and a silent auction.

for purchase at $50 per person and guests must be 21 or older. Every ticket includes access to all tastings and a complimentary margarita.

The proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward supporting the Alliance and its mission.

“We are excited to bring a new energy to this year’s Cheers for Change event while continuing to support an important cause,” Alliance Chair Tony Celestine said in the release. “Events like this allow our community to come together, raise awareness, and make a meaningful impact in the fight against human trafficking.”
