9/11 anniversary: Live stream from New York City's memorial ceremony

The Mallard Fillmore comic strip published on Sept. 11 left me disgusted.

To suggest that just because an American is a Democrat, he or she has an unpatriotic and/or inappropriate response or remembrance regarding 9/11 is outrageous and should insult all of us.

That the author of this has a low opinion of Democrats is obvious. That Democrats are lumped together into a monolithic, extreme and imagined persona is a perfect example of the “us vs. them” thinking that has been encouraged by our enemies through a wide variety of social media tactics, because they understand that to conquer they must divide.

Of all times for Mallard Fillmore to put aside such self-destructive impulses, 9/11 should qualify.

Since it does not, what, indeed, does he see as the solution? Simply deport all Democrats?

The editors of the newspaper have a responsibility to say no to such hateful, anti-American propaganda.
