Elections seem to be about who can raise the most money or which PAC produces the most inflammatory advertisement, each party slamming the other. But what are the issues they care about? Current members of Congress have bipartisan opportunities to make a positive difference before the end of this year.

The Stronger Start for Working Families Act would equitably start refunding the Child Tax Credit at the first dollar earned, not $2,500, and would impact millions of families who don’t earn enough to receive the full credit. Even $375 would positively impact these families.

The End Tuberculosis Now Act would require accountability and reporting of the efficacy of TB programs aiming to cut the cases and deaths from the world’s leading infectious disease killer. We all want our taxes to be invested wisely. Saving lives and preventing the spread of disease are admirable goals.

Let’s urge our sitting members of Congress to help pass these worthy bills before the end of this congressional session.
