An area of low pressure in the central subtropical Atlantic is expected to encounter more favorable conditions for development over the next day and possibly become a tropical depression, forecasters with the said Thursday morning.
After its chances of development dropped on Wednesday, by Thursday morning forecasters gave the system, dubbed Invest 98L, a 40% chance of developing over the next two days.
The disturbance was still disorganized and was located several hundred miles east of Bermuda, NHC forecaster Jack Beven said.
It continued to move slowly westward and could turn south on Friday, according to Beven.
The area of low pressure does not pose a risk to Louisiana.
