An 91ÇÑ×Ó student was held at gunpoint and robbed after trying to sell a pair of Jordan sneakers in the West Campus Apartment parking lot, police say.

The victim told 91ÇÑ×Ó police he attempted to sell a pair of white Jordan 12 sneakers to Devine Hayes about 11 p.m. Oct. 23.

The victim said he and another person were waiting in his vehicle when Hayes and two other men approached. One of the men, later identified as Wendell Riggins III, pointed a firearm at the victim and said “Give it up,” according to police records. The victim said he handed the shoes to Riggins and immediately drove away.

Through video surveillance footage, police saw Riggins using a Tiger Card to access South Hall before the robbery took place and then returning to the car with the Hayes and the other suspect. Riggins drove with Hayes and the third man to the WCA parking lot and waited for the victim, a warrant for his arrest said.

After the robbery, South Hall surveillance footage shows the three individuals running into the building, police said.

On Oct. 29, Riggins was arrested on a count of armed robbery and gave police Hayes’ name and contact information.

Hayes was arrested Wednesday on a count of principal to armed robbery.

Police are still looking for the third suspect.
