After the dismissal bell rings on their last day of school, seniors at East Ascension High School start dashing across the street to jump in the pond in front of the parish government building. It’s a long standing tradition. Parents - many who jumped when they graduated - line the pond. Most jumpers wear swim gear, pool floaties and one of the swim team members usually tries to be the first to make it across.
