ALEXANDRIA – The undefeated start to the 2026 season came to an end Friday night for the Lafayette Christian Academy Knights, falling 45-0 to powerhouse Alexandria at Butch Stoker Stadium in Alexandria.
Junior Noble Williams, one of the top running backs in the state of Louisiana, had a huge night for the Trojans as he rushed for 205 yards and scored three touchdowns on 20 carries. His first scoring jaunt came from 10 yards out to cap off ASH’s first drive of the game.
After LCA could not capitalize on a fumble by an ASH punt returner, senior quarterback Karsen Sellers connected with senior wide receiver Reginald Monroe for a touchdown. Senior kicker Eli Fung kicked a short field goal to increase the Trojans lead to 17-0.
In addition to the scoring onslaught by the Trojans high-powered offense, the ASH defense not only slowed down the Knights offense but came up with big turnovers at opportune times. The biggest turnover came as LCA was down 17-0.
Junior running back Kyzir White broke past the defense for a long run and appeared headed for the end zone, but junior defensive back Raymond Harris not only caught him from behind but also caused a fumble and a touchback, giving the ball back to the Trojans offense.
“We missed a couple of opportunities to keep it close early, but I’m super proud of the way our dudes competed until the final whistle,” LCA coach Matt Standiford said. "I thought we battled the entire night against a team that will probably be playing into December this year.”
Two more touchdowns by the Trojans in the closing minutes of the First Half, including Williams’ second TD of the game, gave ASH a commanding 31-0 lead going into Halftime.
A 20-yard run on third-and-short by junior running back Kason Williams on the Trojans first drive of the Second Half and a long TD run by Noble Williams to end the third quarter closed out the scoring for the Trojans, who rolled up nearly 400 yards of total offense on the night.
“We schedule these games for a reason,” Standiford said. “We know that these games prepare us for the playoffs. Tonight was big for us going forward because it’ll help us focus on the details and the small things that are going to be the difference in games going forward.”
Up next for LCA is the renewal of a recent rivalry with former District 4-4A opponent Teurlings Catholic. The Knights are 3-1 against the Rebels, winning playoff semifinal games in back-to-back seasons before falling to the St. Thomas More Cougars in the LHSAA Division II Select state championship games in 2022 and 2023.
